omnium rerum principia parva sunt.
For the beginnings of all things are small. —Cicero
The National Junior Classical League's motto for the year of 2014 was "omnium rerum principia parva sunt," translating to "For the beginnings of all things are small." Cicero's words seemed especially fitting for aiming to build and expand Connecticut's JCL chapter.
Beginning at Classical Magnet School in Hartford, the CTJCL will create a unique experience for students taking Latin statewide. In addition to the entire JCL experience, participation in events such as field trips, move nights, Latin-inspired school days, community service projects, talent shows, etc., will truly "develop responsibility, foster brotherhood, promote enthusiasm, encourage competition, inspire dedication and enrich our total growth," as the NJCL Creed states.
